AGE REQUIREMENT
The age requirement to begin the classroom instruction portion of driver’s ed is a minimum of 14 years and 9 months. The age requirement to drive in the behind-the-wheel instruction is 15 years of age. Minor students must be in the 8th grade or higher to begin instruction.
Upon completion of the classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction, Take Five Driving Academy will provide one original and one additional copy of Certificate of Successful Completion of the program.
STANDARD OF BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to arrive on time and maintain a courteous and respectful attitude. Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will be asked to leave. Cell phones are not permitted to be used during classroom or driving time unless directed. Any cell phone usage during this time will result in students being removed from the class without a refund. Parents, please discuss this with your child before class attendance to avoid issues.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Deposits and payments are non-refundable. Students may reschedule another class date if they are unable to attend the original class. Please call as soon as possible if you or your child will not be able to attend any class.
In the event of a school’s closure, either by voluntary measures or by action of Take Five Driving Academy, a refund will be issued upon written request. All refunds will be processed within 30 days after the effective date of termination or request, whichever occurs first.
ABSENCE
If any necessary absence occurs during the classroom portion of instruction, contact the office to decide when the class time can be made up. If a student misses any classroom portion, the class must be made up at an additional fee of $40 per day, and $35 per cancelled driving lesson. Unless decided different by the Take Five Driving Academy. No certificate will be awarded until the course requirements are met.
CLASS/DRIVING CANCELLATION
Classes or Driving sessions will be cancelled in the event of extreme inclement weather (i.e. hurricane, tornado, etc. which puts our students in danger. Take Five Driving Academy staff will contact the Legal Guardian and Students regarding rescheduling. Students will not be able to be driven if instructor feels student is fatigue or under the influence of any type of substance.
DRIVING SCHEDULING
Students are not allowed to drive during school hours, rather they are homeschooled or in a private school. Take Five Driving Academy by law has to follow each student public school schedule. State law allows Take Five Driving Academy 120 days to drive students 17 and under. State law allows Take Five Driving Academy 90 days to drive students 18 and older. Please allow 1-3 weeks before your behind the wheel to be scheduled.
DISCLAIMERS
Completion of any course at Take Five Driving Academy does not guarantee that a driver’s license or permit will be awarded to a student nor will this course count for any school credit. Students may qualify for a discount on auto insurance premiums; contact your agent for more details.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
As a parent you are the most appropriate person in determining your child’s readiness to begin the driver’s education process. The State of Louisiana requires a 38-hour education course. Once the child has passed the course, it will be your responsibility to supervise your child with 50 hours of driving time with at least 15 hours of that being at night.
